Those of you who watch FOX's popular show, Empire, starring Terrence Howard and Taraji P. Henson, may have recognized a few scenes from episode 208 “My Bad Parts”, which aired on November 18, 2015. Three scenes were filmed in the Poplar Creek Public Library (PCPL) this past September. A few rooms in the library were transformed for the show—you may have to look beyond the set scenery to recognize the library, but it’s there!

Additionally, FOX made a generous donation to PCPL, which will be used to renovate two adult study rooms for group usage with teaming tables and whiteboard walls. The two updated rooms will be re-named the FOX Empire Study Rooms.

"Brady Breen, location manager for Empire had seen some pictures online and asked if their team could come out and visit to see if it would meet their needs," Library Board President Candace McCreary said. "After seeing the library, the director decided to do three scenes rather than one. Many of the FOX employees were impressed with the modern décor and size of our library."

The library remained open during filming, and the staff continued to serve library patrons. Empire stars on set were Terrence Howard, Taraji P. Henson, Jussie Smollett, Grace Gealey, and Kaitlin Doubleday. FOX also brought 50 extras for the scenes.
