Adult Services has computers available for public access in the Adult Reference Area (10), the InfoCommons Area (13) and the Media Area (14). These computers offer Internet Access (both filtered and unfiltered), access to a variety of research databases including eLibrary, AncestryLibrary Edition, NewsBank newspaper access, the Chicago Tribune, LearningExpress Library, and Mango Languages among others.
Computers in the Adult Reference area are available to those who are 18 years of age and older. Computers in the Media area are available to those who are 15 years of age and older. Computers in the InfoCommons area are available for all ages. A user may access the computer using his/her valid Poplar Creek Library card and pin number. Cards from other public libraries may be used if registered at the Poplar Creek Library registration desk.
The library offers computer tutorials for Poplar Creek cardholders that may be scheduled for selected dates and times. Classes on Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and other topics are offered. Classes will be announced in the newsletter and in the events calendar of the website, or call Janice at (630) 483-4935 for more information about classes or to schedule a tutorial.
The Library provides wireless access throughout the entire building during normal operating hours. To access the wireless network patrons must have their own laptop computer with a wireless access card installed and must know how to use their own equipment. Staff are not responsible for knowing how to use patrons laptops.
